Dudley is a 1-2 year old, 14 pound bundle of sweetness. He's a Dachshund mix who came to us from the Salinas Animal Services after coming in as an injured stray. Poor Dudley, he had been hit by a car, and his pelvis was broken in several places. He is currently in foster care, and has one week of crate rest to go before he can start to exercise and strengthen his muscles. Dudley is good with cats and other dogs, and is gentle with children. Shane is a 5-year-old Rottweiler mix that came to us from the Salinas Animal Services and is currently in foster care. He's a sweet dog who loves to cuddle with you. Bambi is a sweet 8-9 year old Miniature Pinscher mix. She lost her home when her elderly guardian passed away. Cassie is a beautiful 2-year-old blue merle Australian Shepherd with one blue eye and one brown. She has been in foster care for several months while she has been working on some behavior issues. Beau is a blind, 7-year-old Lab/Shepherd/Chow mix who was found abandoned in a home in Hollister after a foreclosure. He weighs about 55 pounds and has an extremely nice temperament. Lucy is a beautiful 1 1/2 year old double merle Australian Shepherd. Sometimes Aussies with this coloring are deaf or blind, but Lucy is just fine. Lucy came to us from Silicon Valley Humane Society. Her owners took her to the shelter with a badly broken hind leg to be euthanized. Instead her leg was amputated and she is full of love to share with a new home. Dottie is a frisky, happy 2-3 year old poodle mix who came to us from the San Jose Shelter after coming in as a stray. Divit is an 8-year-old black tricolor Australian Shepherd with lots of love to share. He came to us from a local shelter and has lived with children over age 5. Lena (short for Thumbelina) is a very sweet 7-year-old Chihuahua. She weighs about 4 pounds. Lena was found as a stray and was taken to the Santa Cruz Animal Services before coming to AFRP. Lena was born with double luxating patellas (the grooves in her kneecaps are shallow). This condition makes her wobbly in her back legs, but her upper body strength is amazing and she gets around very well. Lena gets along with other dogs and does fine with cats. She had orthopedic surgery on one back leg on March 20, and will have her other leg done soon. This surgery will keep her condition from worsening as she ages. Saffron is a 3-month-old Spaniel mix puppy who came down with parvo and was surrendered to a local vet clinic for euthanasia because her owners couldn't pay for her medical treatment. Fortunately, AFRP was contacted to take Saffron into our adoption program and pay her medical expenses. Saffron has finished her treatment and is available for adoption. She is a very sweet and loving puppy who will most likely weigh 20-25 pounds when full grown. Timmy, formerly Costco, is a little guy with a big heart. He's about 5 years old and walks with a little wobble from a previous injury to his legs. Mia is a Rat Terrier mix puppy, born on February 27. She came from the Salinas Animal Services with her mother and siblings but sadly she was the only pup that survived. Ritz is a sweet 3-5 year old white Chihuahua mix who is hoping for a rags-to-riches story. Found as a stray, shivering in the cold and nothing but skin and bones, Ritz ended up at the Salinas Shelter and needed help. We got him some vet care, put him in a foster home and he's made a great comeback. He only weighs 5 pounds but has a big personality.
