P.A.L. (Prevent-A-Litter) Program

$40 to neuter your male cat
$80 to spay your female cat

Every year local animal shelters are inundated with homeless moms and kittens. Thousands end up being euthanized. Together we can do something about this overpopulation problem. Through AFRP’s Prevent-A-Litter (P.A.L.) Program we are able to provide low cost and no cost spay/neuter vouchers for members of the general public who can not afford to have their cats altered. Unfortunately, we do not currently have a program for dogs.

AFRP will provide qualified participants with a voucher that can be redeemed at one of our participating vet clinics in Monterey County. The cost to neuter a male cat is $40 and the cost to spay a female cat is $80.

The process to obtain a voucher is simple:

1. Contact AFRP at 333-0722 to request a voucher. AFRP will send you information about the program and a short/simple financial screening form. You can also download this financial screening form (you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed).

2. Return the completed form with your payment (check or credit card) or with a note about obtaining a lower cost voucher.

3. AFRP will send you a voucher that will cover the total cost of spaying or neutering your male or female cat! (You will be notified and your payment will be promptly returned if you do not qualify for the program.)

Spaying and neutering is the humane, safe, responsible thing to do!

Approximately 5,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Monterey County last year due to overcrowded animal shelters. Over four million cats and dogs are euthanized in animal shelters across the United States each year.

The Simple Solution: Spay or Neuter your Pet

Spaying and neutering...

• reduces or eliminates many pet health problems that can be expensive to treat.
• makes pets less likely to exhibit behavior or temperament problems.
• helps pets live healthier, happier, and longer.

Is your pet already altered?

Thank you for being responsible! You can still help by encouraging a  friend, neighbor or family member to spay or neuter their pets.
