Meet AFRP Volunteer Craig Higgins

Craig Higgins is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to volunteering with AFRP. For the past three years, he has worked at adoption events, sold raffle tickets, transported animals to vet appointments and events, walked and exercised adoptable dogs, and has even played Santa at PetSmart.

Dogs have held a fascination for Craig since he was a baby. He grew up with dachshunds, schnauzers, and poodles and currently cares for his adopted poodles, Cosmo and Gracie.

Craig wanted to volunteer with AFRP because of the emphasis placed on helping abused, abandoned, ill, injured, and other needy animals. A part of Craig has always wanted to be a vet and he says, “Working with AFRP is the closest I’ll get.”

Craig enjoys exercising the dogs that are in foster care and in boarding. Craig loves any opportunity to develop a personal connection with AFRP’s adoptable dogs. Three dogs he really spent a lot of time with and fell in love with this past year were Apollo, Aiden, and Ricky. It was particularly rewarding for Craig when they found their forever homes.

He wishes that more people would get involved with animal rescue. Even if time is limited, Craig knows firsthand that “any degree of assistance one can give to this very worthy cause is necessary and appreciated.”

Craig’s words of advice to anyone who has considered volunteering for AFRP: “Take advantage of this opportunity to help animals; you’ll never regret it.”

Thank you, Craig, for all that you do!
