Posted 8-26-21. Buddy is a sweet, lazy, cuddly 4-year-old neutered Bulldog mix looking for a new loving home due to some changes in the living situation at home. He's a wonderful dog that is happiest being near his people and getting petting and love. He's a huge fan of belly rubs, peanut butter, chicken nuggets and his comfy bed. He is a healthy dog and takes a daily medication to keep some anxiety  issues under control. Buddy is completely house trained and crate trained, he's great on leash and loves car rides. Buddy will do best in an adult household with no other dogs, no cats and no small children due to his size and tendency to sometimes jump up when he is excited. He is used to apartment living, but he'd also be happy with a yard to sniff around in. Buddy's family loves him and they want to give him a chance to live his best life. For more information please email Nicole at

Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Age: Years
Weight: 90 lbs
Gender: Male

Posted 6-9-21. Zeus is a gentle 4-year-old, 90-pound Pit Bull mix with a wonderful temperament. He was rescued as a puppy and needs a new home after his person passed away. He gets along with other dogs and is good with people, but he prefers slow introductions. When you take him for a walk, he does pull on the leash, but he is doing better with more training. Zeus loves attention and quickly trusts people who take it slow and talk to him. He can get nervous with quick movements over his back. Zeus has been great in the home and responds well to basic commands. He has lived with another dog and cats and he was great with them. He'd love a second chance to lay on someone's feet or snuggle on the couch. He's looking for a new home as soon as possible. Zeus is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in the Carmel area. Breed: Malamute Mix
Age: 5-8 Years
Weight: 83 lbs
Gender: Male

Posted 5-14-21. Nick is a gorgeous blue-eyed Alaskan Malamute mix looking for a loving home. He is a healthy dog and is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is house trained and he's good on the leash and knows all his basic commands. This social boy loves going for rides in the car and he gets along wonderfully with other dogs and with kids. He has not lived with cats. He currently enjoys three walks per day, along with a chance to romp in a backyard or dog park. He enjoys spending time indoors with his people, but he also enjoys having a large yard to explore. Ideally he would love a home where he could come inside or outside at will. Nick uses body language to let you know if he wants out, more food, etc. He is very smart and eager to please. Nick gets very nervous in enclosed spaces, so instead of a crate it's best to leave him in a gated area of your house when left unsupervised. Nick's current owner has a career change and would like him to find a home where people are home much of the day. He is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in Marina, CA. Breed: Chi/Doxie Mix
Age: 2 Years
Weight: 25 lbs
Gender: Female

Updated 9-24-21. Whiskey a go-go is a 2 year-old, 25-pound spayed female Dachshund/Chihuahua mix being fostered in Santa Cruz. She was running loose for several weeks, scared, before she was caught and taken to a local shelter. She had never worn a collar or leash previously, so she had a lot to learn! She is initially scared of new people and she will need an experienced, patient adopter to win her trust and help her gain confidence. She is doing great in her foster home and she's extremely loving and playful once she feels safe. Whiskey would do best with another dog that can show her that everything is okay. She will need a quiet home with secure fencing. A confident cat will likely be fine, Whiskey has a tendency to chase but listens well and takes direction. She is house trained, fully vaccinated and microchipped. For more info email or call or text 831-252-2757.

Harley is a vocal dog that loves to talk. He was attacked by two dogs when he was young, and since that time he shows fear-aggression towards other dogs, and he needs to be a single dog in the home. He needs a home with no cats and no young children. Harley rides nicely in the car and has good manners in the house and out in the yard. He is a loyal, affectionate and happy dog that deserves a chance at a forever home. Harley is not an AFRP dog. For more information please contact Gabriella at 858-230-21778 or email

Breed: Malinois Mix
Age: 10 Months
Weight: 60 lbs
Gender: Female

Posted 1-11-21. Boston is a 10-month-old spayed female Belgian Malinois mix that is looking for a quiet forever home. She loves other dogs and would do well in a home with another pup to play with. She loves going got the dog park, playing fetch and snuggling with her humans. She is crate trained, knows her obedience commands and learns very quickly. She would enjoy doing dog sports such as agility or nose work. Boston takes some time to warm up to new people, but when she does, she loves to snuggle and play. She is a typical "mouthy Mal" and would do well with an owner that has experience with this breed or other high-drive working dogs. Boston will do best in a home with plenty of outdoor space, no cats and no young children. She's looking for an owner that can continue her counter-conditioning and desensitization training, and help show her the world is not a scary place. Boston is not an AFRP dog and she currently lives in Oakland. If she sounds like a good fit for your family, please email Lisa at

Breed: Lab/Shepherd
Age: Adult
Weight: 100 lbs

Posted 1-11-21. Raven is a 7-year-old, 100-pound special-needs Lab/Shepherd mix seeking a temporary or forever home. Her family was displaced by the Santa Cruz Fire in late summer. Raven is a loving and energetic dog that is very affectionate. Highly intelligent, Raven has gone through many levels of obedience school and she knows many commands and fancy tricks. She gets along will with the cat in her family, but has been known to chase roaming cats. She needs to be a single dog in her new home. Raven was born with a structural abnormality that is not repairable by surgery, which causes some urinary incontinence. This is successfully controlled with a medication that she takes 3 times per day. She has taken this since she was a puppy. She also takes a dose of anti-anxiety medication every day. Breed: Siberian Husky
Age: Young
Weight: 80 lbs
Gender: Female

Post renewed 3-9-21. This is Mishka. She's an 9-month-old 80-pound spayed female Siberian Husky in need of an active, loving home. Her family had her since she was a puppy, but need to find her a new home due to some changes in family circumstances. Mishka is house trained and crate trained and enjoys meeting new people and playing with other dogs. She has not met cats, but this breed typically has some prey drive so a cat-free home would probably be best. This smart and easily trained dog knows how to sit, stay, shake, lay down. She does not jump up and walks nicely with a harness, pulling only when she gets excited. Mishka is basically a big baby that loves attention and belly rubs! She'll be a wonderful addition to an adopter that understands the mental and physical needs of Northern breed dogs. Mishka is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in the Sacramento area.
