Hi, I'm Asti. I was adopted on May 11!

Border Collie Mix

Black and White

Young, Female

Beauty and brains! Asti is a 6-month-old, 25-pound Border Collie mix looking for a successful match with an adopter with serious herding breed experience. She’s an extremely intelligent and highly energetic dog that will keep you on your toes and will reward her person with a lifetime of love and loyalty. Asti came to AFRP as a young puppy that was one of over 20 dogs confiscated by animal control after being discovered living in deplorable conditions. Asti has come a long way since then, but she does have a few residual behavior challenges including resource guarding of food and high-value items.

Asti is crate trained, house trained and knows her basic commands. She is a dog that thrives on learning new things, and she’ll be a great candidate for agility or other dog sports. She has a very high energy level and lots of stamina, and she needs three or more hours of vigorous exercise every day. Asti gets along with other dogs, but she needs a home without cats or other small animals. She’s looking for an adult household or family with dog-savvy kids over age 12 committed to helping her gain confidence, provide structure and offer her a lifetime of learning and love. To ensure a successful adoption, we require:

  • A highly active adopter
  • A plan in place to work with a positive reinforcement trainer
  • Past herding breed experience, experience managing resource-guarding

Asti is currently in foster care and she’s available for meet and greets once an application is approved. Applications will not be considered unless requirements listed above are addressed.

Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
