Adoptable Pets > Dog > Atlas

Hi, I'm Atlas. I was adopted on July 14!

Terrier Mix

Brown

Adult, Male

Some dogs seem to bear the weight of the world on their shoulders. Atlas is a 2-year-old 17-pound terrier mix that came to AFRP from the Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being rescued from a hoarding situation in south Monterey County. Currently in foster care, Atlas is slowly starting to learn to trust. We do not know what sort of trauma or neglect he experienced in the past, but happily,  Atlas is showing many signs of improvement. He is bright and treat-motivated (loves cheese) and he gets along nicely with other dogs (has not been tested with cats). Atlas is happiest when outdoors exploring his back yard, and cuddled on the sofa with you to watch a movie. He is now leash-trained, and he is doing better when meeting new people, especially if they give him a treat! This smart and agile boy has learned the commands sit, wait, roll over and jump into arms.  Adult household only, secure backyard preferred, and another friendly mentor dog in the home will really help set a good example for Atlas. If you would like to learn more about helping this great little dog learn to enjoy life, please fill out an online application.

Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
