Mr. Strudel is looking his best after being bathed and groomed! This 1-year-old, 14-pound poodle/terrier mix came to AFRP from the Monterey County Animal Services after coming in as a filthy, matted and neglected dog that was on hold for a cruelty investigation. Despite a rough start in life, Mr. Strudel seems to hold no grudges, and he enjoys meeting new people and soaking up your love and attention. In his past life he had to stand up for himself, and he has an alpha personality around other dogs. He gets along with some, but not others so a careful introduction will be key when going to a multi-dog household. When on the leash, he passes other dogs with friendly curiosity but no aggression. He seems interested in chasing cats and will be best in a feline-free home. Strudel is working on his house training and he did do a fair amount of urine marking in his foster home at first, but that is improving since his neuter surgery. He sleeps in his crate at night and he is very tolerant when it’s time for bathing and brushing. This guy will do best in an adult household or family with dog-savvy older kids. He’s looking for someone with the time to continue his training and can provide regular professional grooming to keep his coat in shape. He’s a very high-energy, playful dog that needs daily exercise. To arrange a meet and greet with Mr. Strudel, please fill out an online application.
