Help Sammy blossom! This adorable 4-year-old, 10-pound Maltese/Poodle Mix (malti-poo) is a bit scared and anxious in new situations, but once he feels safe and secure he’s a delightful little dog that spins in joyful circles when he’s happy and excited! Sammy has a sweet face and a heart of gold. This affectionate little guy loves to cuddle and he becomes very attached to his person – he’ll follow you around the house like a little shadow. Sammy gets along great with other dogs and he is crate trained and house trained. He has learned to sit and will come when called. He’s eager to learn additional basic obedience skills. Sammy came to AFRP from the Monterey SPCA when they needed to move animals out to make way for fire evacuees. He is currently on anti-anxiety medication to help him cope with the recent changes in his life. He’ll do best in a calm and quiet adult home (no small children) that understands the needs of a shy/anxious dog. He’d love to have a confident mentor dog buddy in his new home to help him gain confidence. This is a breed that requires regular professional grooming. Sammy is in foster care and he’s available for meet and greets. The first step is to fill out an online application.
Please note: Due to COVID-19, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
