They don’t come much cuter than Scruffy Pete! He’s a sweet and easygoing 8-year-old, 10-pound Terrier Mix with lots of love to share. Pete came to AFRP from the Hitchcock Road Animal Services after coming in as a stray with an injured hind paw, which has completely healed in foster care. Some of his favorite activities? Going for walks, sitting in the sunshine and hanging out with his people. Scruffy Pete gets along nicely with other dogs and cats, but he’d also be happy as a single pet in the home, as long as he gets plenty of love and attention. Scuffy Pete is doing well with his house training skills, he walks nicely on the leash, an he knows his name and comes when called. This calm and friendly dog has a great tail-wag and he twirls in circles when he’s happy! He has not had experience with children but would probably do fine with gentle kids over age 8. Scruffy Pete is currently in foster care and he’s available for meet and greets once an online application is approved.

Due to COVID and the high demand for shelter pets, preference is given to residents of Monterey County and Santa Cruz County.
