AFRP only adopts out cats that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $150 which helps to cover the cost of all care the animal has received, including their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP cat to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury is looking for somebody to love! He's a bright and lively 4-month-old brown tabby that can happily purr in several octaves! Freddie was raised in foster care after being rescued as a tiny abandoned stray in South Monterey County. He's a friendly and outgoing boy that loves an audience as he frolics with his toys and his kitten friends. He'd love having a kitty playmate in his new home. She came into our program after several years of living outdoors near a rehab facility in Salinas. Due to a past injury or severe infection, Aurora's eyes were surgically removed, but she does not let that slow her down! Five-month-old Custard is a sweet orange tabby with a big personality. His loud purr and boisterous play will bring entertaining fun to his new home once he settles in. Custard was raised in foster care in a house with plenty of activity, teenagers, two older cats, and his five siblings. Sometimes he will play fetch with his toy mice for his foster family. Custard has a heart murmur, and needs to have annual ultrasounds to check on his heart health, but it is likely that he will live a long life. Winston is a very special 3-month-old brown tabby kitten that was born with scoliosis. His spine is very curved, but he is not in any discomfort and he can play, climb and pounce like other kittens. Winston's gait is somewhat abnormal, but he gets around just fine. The folks at the Salinas Animal Shelter contacted us to help find Winston the purrfect home! He is currently doing great in foster care and he gets along nicely with other cats and kittens. No surgery or medical treatment is necessary. He will need a safe, indoor-only home. Mitze is a lovely 14-year-old calico kitty who recently lost her home when her guardian had to move overseas and could not take her along. She is a very well behaved indoor cat, very clean and uses her litter box without fail. Mitze gets along very well with other animals, but she would especially love all the attention that comes with being a single pet. Watch Mitze's video. K.B. (short for Kona Baby) is a handsome, playful and athletic 5-year-old black cat who was rescued as a young kitten and was raised in foster care. He remained very shy and wary for many months, but recently made a huge breakthrough and now enjoys rubbing up against legs and sitting on laps to ask for petting. He's a super mellow guy who is fantastic with other cats of all ages. Meet K.B. at the AFRP Adoption Center in Pacific Grove - he's one of our "office cats," and we'd love to see him find happiness in a home of his own. Clara Bell

Clara Bell is a sweet and gentle 8-year-old grey and white cat who was born in an old school bus at a wrecking yard in south Monterey County. She was fed by an employee, but never had the luxury of living as a house cat. Once she trusts you, she loves to be petted and rolls over on her back when you rub her head. Clara Bell is a shy girl and will require a patient adopter who will give her plenty of time to adjust to her new home. Setting her up in a quiet spare bedroom while you are getting to know each other would be perfect. Give Clara Bell a chance and she'll be your loyal little friend! Kona is an 8-year-old black cat looking for a very special adopter. She came to us from a shelter in Los Angeles that closed down. Sadly, Kona arrived at the L.A. shelter when she was only 12 weeks old, and spent many years in a cage situation. Tootsie is a friendly 8-year-old brown tabby looking for love! She came to us from a rescue group in Los Angeles that had to close down. Before that she lived with a family that had to surrender her due to some landlord problems. Tootsie loves to rub up against you to ask for petting, and enjoys chasing laser toys and munching on cat grass. She is not overly fond of other cats, and would be in kitty heaven as your one-and-only kitty friend. Like many cats, Tootsie prefers to be petted and stroked near her head and neck - no belly rubs please! She does nip when overstimulated. Adult, experienced adopter preferred. Outdoor Cats
Do you have a ranch, barn, greenhouse, workshop or studio that could be a safe haven for a feral cat or two? We often have a few cats in our care who have lived their whole lives outdoors, and are not comfortable in our adoption center. They will have already been spayed/neutered, and immunized. If you can provide food, water and shelter for feral cats who needs a safe, secure outdoor home, please contact us. We recommend a good cat fencing system that can be used for outdoor cats or for your indoor cats who want a safe outdoor adventure. Read more about cat enclosures.

Posted 9-26-18. Gabby is a lovely 7-year-old spayed female orange/white tabby looking for a new home because her guardian is moving out of the country. Gabby is an independent and easygoing cat that is friendly with people she knows, but can be a bit aloof with strangers. She has not been around children or other animals, and will probably do best as a single cat in a quiet household. Gabby will sleep with you on the bed at night and nap on a bookshelf during the day. She is healthy and easy to care for. She will go outside for brief periods but prefers being an indoor cat. She is not an AFRP cat and currently lives in Corralitos, CA. Posted 9-6-18. Buttons is a handsome and healthy 6-year-old medium long haired Tuxedo cat. He is looking for a new home after his beloved guardian passed away. Buttons loves to cuddle and play. He is very good at amusing himself with his toys and brings lots of joy with him. Buttons has been neutered and has a microchip. He has toys, beds, and blankets. All he needs now is someone to give him a quiet and happy forever home. For his safety and to maintain his accustomed living conditions, Buttons will need a strictly indoor home where he can live without any other cats or dogs. Numsa
Posted 9-6-18. Numsa is a 10-year-old neutered male tuxedo cat with special needs. He suffered a head injury as a kitten that caused him to be blind and deaf on one side. As a result, his depth perception is compromised and he sometimes has difficulty judging distances when jumping or moving around. He walks with a head-tilt and his tongue often sticks out, very cute! He sometimes has issues with urinary crystals and should eat a special diet and drink plenty of water.
