AFRP Dogs Looking for Homes - Call (831) 333-0722 if you are interested

AFRP's dogs are cared for in foster homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please call or email first before coming down to the adoption center. On any given day we have 5 to 10 dogs at the center, not ALL of our dogs are on site.

In order to ensure that we make the best match for a dog with a new family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process, fill out an application, and have a home check done by one of our volunteers. We do not do same day adoptions. After meeting one of our dogs, it might take up to a week before the adoption process is complete and the dog goes home with you.

Please call (831) 333-0722 or email info@animalfriendsrescue.org if you are interested in adopting an AFRP dog and we will have the foster volunteer contact you directly.

AFRP only adopts out dogs that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $200-$300. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP dog to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of participating vets).

Dottie loves going for walks and likes to sleep at the feet of her foster mom while she works at her desk. Khaleesi
Posted 11-24-19. Hi there, I am Khaleesi and I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Hawai after having been abandoned in the wilderness on Kauai. I am a 5 year old female, 40 lb Airedale terrier mix with lots of energy! I am a lover, snuggler and a giant lap dog to boot! I need a home where I can have a lot of attention and exercise. My new home needs to be adults only, as I am very sensitive and startle easily. I am still working on my trust issues. I can be scared and slow to warm up sometimes but I hope you will be patient with me. Once I decide to love you, I'm sold! I am crate trained and will go in of my own accord to relax, and I do very well on a leash and with basic commands. I would do best as an only dog, or possibly with another low key big male dog who likes to play and doesn't growl at me or stress me out. I'm choosey about my friends. I do love playing with chickens, and I get the rooster at my farm to chase me around the yard every morning. No cats please, because I want to play with them too, and it stresses them out. Please let me be your dragon-queen and I will love you fiercely! Khaleesi is not an AFRP dog. For more information, please contact Kelly at 206-427-7395 or email kjbella595@gmail.com

Posted 11-20-19. Clarissa is a beautiful 1-year-old, 85-pound purebred Doberman Pinscher looking for a loving home. She knows her basic obedience command and loves to play fetch. She is learning to heel while on leash. She loves to run and romp in the woods. Clarissa can come on strong with other dogs, but might be fine with a large dog with a similar energy level. She needs at least an hour of running or vigorous exercise every day. She has lived with a confident cat. Clarissa is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in King City. For more information contact Carol at 831-386-9619, 831-385-4781 or 831-214-4960.

Simon
Posted 10-8-19. Simon is a sweet and loving 58-pound pit bull terrier mix that will be 2 years old on Christmas Day, 2019. He's in need of a new home because his guardian is relocating and cannot take him along. He's a smart and silly guy that gets along great with other dogs, kids and cats. He knows his basic obedience commands and hand signals, and he's pretty reliably house trained. Simon is a healthy dog but was born with a neurological condition that causes his legs to be a little unsteady. His front legs give out from time to time, and his back legs have tremors. He can walk and run with his awkward gait, but long walks are not his thing. He also has an underdeveloped lower jaw, which gives him a big overbite - but he can eat and drink just fine. Simon is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Can you help this special dog? Simon is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in San Jose. For more information call Stephen at 408-726-7751 or email stephen.n.bishop@gmail.com
Leo
Post renewed 1-7-20. This 35lb, 2 year old low-rider loves to play w/his people & dog friends. This sensitive, smart pup is looking for a calm, experienced dog owner that can handle when he gets a bit scared of people or other dogs, especially on leash. Favorite activities include catch, playing tug, rolling in the grass, hanging outside, learning new tricks, and playing with his dog buddies. He already knows tons of commands and hand signals, including shake, go to bed, touch, watch me, roll over, and high five. This guy needs daily exercise, after which he will happily relax with you. He likes hiking, and the beach is his happiest place of all. Car trips make him nervous, though the destination often seems worth it. He loves to check in with you on adventures - he's great off leash (and away from cars). Most of all, this dog loves to learn, play, and eat. He loves people once he knows them; he's not one to fall in love with strangers. Older kids are best for him, and he enjoys the company of confident dogs. Leo is not an AFRP dog, and currently lives in Mountain View. For more info email Meg megangilbuena@gmail.com
